Last night as I watched the election results unfold, I was amazed at the flurry of Facebook and Twitter posts littering my account. Some people were angry or afraid, while others were ecstatic. But the main feeling I got from the social media commentary was that our nation has placed its trust in our political leaders, as if they are capable of saving us from danger and demise. People on both sides of the political spectrum reacted to the election as if their future and well-being lie in the hands of political leaders. As I sat around the TV with close friends, we began to discuss an important truth. Regardless of who we voted for or with what party our allegiances lie, no man—whether democrat or republican—can ever save us. God can use men to do His work, but it is ultimately the Lord who holds us in the palm of his hand. We serve a sovereign God, who is King over all Kings, ruler of all nations and the Prince of Peace. Regardless of the election results, God’s plans and purposes will prevail and one day, every knee shall bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
The LORD Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.
