Today, I received four special handwritten letters in the mail and one very precious email form an old friend. When I tore open those envelopes and saw my name traced in curvy letters on handmade notecards, I couldn’t help but smile. Those little notes filled with questions and encouragements were a simple reminder to me that I am loved and that I am worth thinking of. On any normal day, it would have been easy for me to toss those letters aside and let the busyness of my schedule eclipse the joy of friendship. But today, I simply smiled and thanked God for His everyday blessings. I thanked Him for words of encouragement from friends who genuinely care about my life and wellbeing. I thanked Him for friendships that can survive despite hundreds of miles of separation. I thanked Him that He speaks to us through His people and through pretty cursive letters that spell out our names and handmade notecards in my favorite color. I thanked Him that He is God and that He chooses to show us His goodness through the little things in life, that each day is always saturated in His grace.
