Dr. Jan Wilms, chair of the computer science department, will travel to Denver for the Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education Technical Symposium next month.
The conference will be held March 6-9 and is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery. The main draw is that Union has a chance to bring back equipment that would allow faculty to teach a special topics class, Wilms said.
The symposium includes optional workshops from which professors can take a cluster computer back to their respective schools. Wilms said a cluster computer is several computers that work together, and a major grant made Union’s procurement of such a computer possible.
