Daniel Kelley, senior biology major, is the new Mr. Union, and Kylie McDonald, senior international relations major, is the new Miss Union.
The two will serve as masters of ceremonies for Homecoming Court presentations at the women’s homecoming basketball game Feb. 23.
Kelley and McDonald were announced as winners Feb. 13 after an online vote of the student body on the Union website.
The titles of Mr. and Miss Union are honors bestowed on two graduating seniors who are well respected by their peers, said Karen Taylor, associate director of student leadership and engagement.
“Mr. and Miss Union serve as representatives of the university for the year,” Taylor said. “These students are those who have typically taken advantage of all the great opportunities given to them as Union students and have given back to the Union community.”
Kelley, a Nashville native, was a member of Union basketball team for two years.
He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, a student ambassador, a Focus leader and a member of Beta Beta Beta, the biology honors society.
Kelley hopes to work in a hospital and attend medical school in 2014.
McDonald, of Fort Mill, S.C., is a Focus leader on the Focus Leadership Team, a delegate at the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature and an inductee of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society.
She competed on Union’s debate team for four years and held many roles in Student Government Association, including executive president in 2012.
She plans to work in student ministry and take seminary classes.
