On Sept. 28, the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity hosted an all-you-can-eat shrimp boil on the Great Lawn during Family Weekend festivities.

This is a new event taking place on Union’s campus.

Brittney Teel, senior nursing major and president of the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity, said that this event was used as a kickoff for the organization’s “Think Pink Week.”

“Think Pink Week” took place Sept. 29-Oct. 4, and ZTA hosted different events to raise funds and awareness about the need for breast cancer research, which is ZTA’s official philanthropy project.

Teel said the shrimp boil was used as a fundraiser as well as a community-building event.

“We can all relate to breast cancer’s devastation, and we are willing to help raise money to fight against breast cancer, ” Teel said, adding that funds raised go to ZTA’s foundation.

Before the event, Teel expressed her thankfulness for the support that ZTA has received.

“We are very thankful for the support from Union and the community over the years,” she said, adding that she hopes the shrimp boil will become an annual event at Union.
