“We are just super honored to be here. Everyone was so great and listened so well, from start to finish, it was just incredible.”
These were the words from lead singer Tyler Anthony, of Cereus Bright. Cereus Bright played Friday night, Sept. 5th at Barefoots Joe, and had the crowd loving every second that they were there.
Cereus Bright were accompanied by Boom Forest, who was the opening act of the night. As Boom Forest prepared to take the stage, the energy in the room was already at its peak. The crowd was looking for some easy listening music, and both bands delivered.
After his performance, John Paul Roney of Boom Forest had this to say about his experience at Union: “It was great. A lot of my friend’s bands were talking about how much they love to play here, so I was really going into it expecting a room full of people ready to listen. So it made me feel a lot more excited about playing.”
There was no doubt that this talented, yet humorous singer knew what he was doing and wasn’t going to let the title of “opening act” stop him from giving his all.
As Boom Forest exited the stage, it was time for the main act. Cereus Bright brought both energy, dance moves, and good stories for each song they performed. As they started the playlist off with their single “Goldmine”, and transited to songs such as their cover of The Bee Gees “Staying Alive”, it was clear to see the crowd was enjoying every second of it.
Once the concert ended, there was an uproar for an encore performance. And, with Cereus bright being the lovers of music that they are, they gladly obliged. They final song of the night was a song entitled, “Cereus Bright.” It was a sing along medley and had everyone on their feet by the time it was over.
This night of fun-filled music wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for Joseph Smith, a junior business management and psychology major. Smith is the coordinator for the Barefoot concerts, and is in charge of contacting bands to play for Union.
When asked if they’d be back to visit the campus soon, Tyler Anthony said, “We hope so. We really do hope so.”
Here’s to more good music, and much success to both Cereus Bright and Boom Forest.
