Cereus Bright is a band for music lovers. Originated in Knoxville, Tenn., this band will be playing at Union’s own Barefoots Joe Sept. 5.
Cereus Bright consists of two lead singers, Tyler Anthony and Evan Ford, and a number of multi-talented musicians who help the two make great music. This Modern Folk band has a familiar, yet different sound, which is like a breath of fresh air.
Cereus Bright gives their all in each and every song. Listening to the band for the first time, you may find yourself tapping your foot or also singing along. (Even though you may not know the words.)
“All of us at Cereus Bright are Tennesseans, so when someone from Union reached out about us playing in Jackson, we were thrilled!” said a Cereus Bright representative on Facebook. “We’re so excited to come and play, and we look forward to meeting the students of Union.”
Joseph Smith, a junior double major in business management and psychology, who books bands for Barefoot’s Joe, had this to say: “Cereus Bright is unique in the way that they balance honest, narrative-driven lyrics with a fresh and upbeat sound. Often their songs portray both the messy and beautiful life experiences that we can all identify with, but they always maintain a rhythm that’s just fun to tap your foot to.
“Many bands aim to create a thoughtful and innovative sound that impresses listeners, but lose their accessibility in the process; I think Cereus Bright is able to do both in a way that they involve audiences in a story that we’re all a part of.”
Cereus Bright will be performing live at Barefoots Joe Friday at 8 p.m.
