Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Fla., has chosen Gene Fant as its new provost.
Fant, who is Union’s executive vice president for academic administration and dean of faculty, has worked at Union since 2002.
Fant’s position as Palm Beach Atlantic’s new provost and chief academic officer will begin June 1.
“An advocate for the liberal arts and a trained theologian, Gene Fant is an innovative, 21st century higher education leader,” said William M.B. Fleming Jr., president of Palm Beach Atlantic University. “He was the architect of significant initiatives that propelled Union University forward by numerous measurements. Moreover, he understands the heartbeat of the students.”
Fant was chairman of the Department of English before becoming dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 2006.
He later became vice president for academic administration and in 2012 was named to his current post at Union.
