Halloween brings festive weekend activities

The women's quads RAs planned this year's Costume Coffee House.

Need something fun to do this Halloween weekend? Then take a look at all of the exciting things happening right here in Jackson!

Jackson Escape Rooms
Jackson Escape Rooms are typically open only Thursdays through Saturdays, but they have been open all week and have added a spooky new room just for Halloween. The new room is called “Mastaba” – you must find the way out before the serial killer finds you! Visit their website to book a room.

Trunk or Treat-Yo-Self
SGA is set to host the second annual trunk or treat tonight. Join fellow students in picking up candy from on-campus organizations tonight on the sidewalk in between the quads from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

“It has quickly become one of my favorite events we host because of its relaxing, welcoming atmosphere that reminds me of the invaluable community we have at Union,” said Ben Melton, junior class president and cell and molecular biology major.

Costume Coffee House
Students from all over campus will participate in costume contests from single, small group and large group categories. Residence Life will host the annual event Friday, Oct. 30 from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Bowld Gym.

Halloweek
Halloweek is a week-long event put on by the men of Alpha Tau Omega to raise awareness and money for the American Heart Association. This year, they are having a spirit night at Moe’s on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and a fall festival on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ATO house which will include food, games, a live band and competitions.

“These events may look like we are trying to make Alpha Tau Omega stand out, but in fact we are not. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association, and we keep nothing,” said Dylan Pittman, junior biology major and Alpha Tau Omega’s philanthropy and signature event chair.

LiNK’s HallowFest
Halloween festivities include a hayride, pumpkin patch, six-acre corn maze, petting zoo and more. The $10 tickets will be sold until Friday outside of Brewer Dining Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event will be taking place Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Falcon Ridge Farm, and the proceeds will help North Korean refugees.

Blank Slate Improv’s Harry Potter Show
The W.D. Powell Theater will be transformed into a World of Wizardy Saturday night as the improv team takes on their first ever Harry Potter-themed performance. Head to the box office before the 6 p.m. show to secure a ticket.
