Fort Worth, Texas native Leon Bridges will grace the stage at Barefoots Joe on Friday, March 13. Bridges will be joined by Jackson native Erin Rae.
Leon Bridges started his career by performing at open mics in his home town of Fort Worth, Texas.
Bridges soul and gospel sound helped him earn the interest of Columbia Records, who he signed on with in December, 2014. Bridges’ first single “Coming Home,” was released in February, and made its way onto Spotify’s Top 10 Most Viral playlist. Bridges’ debut album is scheduled to be released this summer.
“When I found out that Barefoots was hosting Leon Bridges, I searched his music and immediately loved it,” said freshman art major, Cece Blanchard. “His music is a different genre than I usually listen to but I am very excited to hear it live.”
Erin Rae will support Bridges on Friday. Rae is a Jackson native who now lives in Nashville. Rae has a sound that is reminiscent of country legends like Patty Griffin or Joni Mitchell.
“I’m excited for Union to continue to bring up and coming artists on campus,” sophomore, family studies major, Hannah Huguley said. “It is a great way to get the artists name out there and it is very exciting to see their journey.”
The concert will kick off at 8:00 p.m. at Barefoots Joe.
