Former student Charlie Pittman, who was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for the murder of his fiancée Olivia Greenlee, has filed a motion to withdraw his plea of guilt, according to multiple news sources.
Pittman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in Greenlee’s death in early August. He has been incarcerated at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex in Pikeville since.
According to Pittman, he did not fully understand the plea and felt pressured to accept the plea deal. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has not yet processed and returned all of the case’s evidence, and Pittman said he wants a new trial date set.
Pittman is set to go before Judge Roy Morgan Oct. 13.
