Spring recruitment wrapped up two weeks ago for Zeta Tau Alpha and Kappa Delta. Both sororities extended bids to women on campus early  last week and celebrated their new sisters with a Spring Bid Day on Feb. 10 for Zeta Tau Alpha and Feb. 13 for Kappa Delta.

Zeta Tau Alpha added four new women to their sisterhood: Amy McKelvey, freshman undecided major;  Anna McKelvey, junior elementary education major; Mary Scarlett Greenway, sophomore communications studies major and Madison Todd, freshman social work major.

“We want them to feel like they have a second home through Zeta Tau Alpha,” said Becca Rogers, junior art major.

Kappa Delta added seven new members: Katy Moore, freshman undecided major; Megan Wolinksy, freshman biology major; Jordan Sellers, sophomore history major; Sarah Kreuter, sophomore athletic training major;  Savannah Legan, freshman nursing major;  Kristen Francis, freshman art major and Rebecca Shamblin, junior family studies major.

“All of the new sisters are involved on campus,” aid Kasey Comfort, sophomore nursing major. “Two of the girls are on the soccer and softball teams, and the other girls are already engaged in Kappa Delta through Variety Show and community service.”

The new members of each sorority made their decision based on different reasons.  Sellers said her decision to accept a spring bid was easy because of Kappa Delta’s principles.

“I chose Kappa Delta because of their values,” Sellers said. “They encourage confidence in young women and true friendship among sisters, both within the sorority and with all of our other sisters in Christ.”

Greenway said her roommates inspired her to rush.

“I chose Zeta Tau Alpha because I wanted the opportunity to be part of a great group of girls,” Greenway said. “Two of my roommates are Zetas, and they always talked about how much fun it was. I’m super excited to be a part of it now!”
