The second Student Senate meeting of the semester may have been short, but no less significant.
There were two resolutions presented before the Senate.
Ben Melton, sophomore biology major, proposed a resolution to put Bibles in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. It was passed with an amendment lowering the cost of the Bibles from $10.00 to $1.50.
Will Duncan, senior engineering major, presented a resolution to replace the chairs in the Blasingame Academic Complex 45 computer lab.
According to a budget update from Treasurer Benton Hurt, sophomore biology major, there is $1995 left in the budget for the semester.
For Anderson Underwood, sophomore intercultural studies major and Student Government Association’s new chaplain, senate is about more than bills, budgets and resolutions.
“I’ll hopefully be able to remind the senators we are here for a higher purpose than just debating bills,” said Anderson Underwood.
As chaplain, Underwood said he will provide scripture and prayer at the beginning of each Student Senate meeting.
Karis Lancaster, freshman English major, was voted in as clerk on Feb. 11.
The next senate meeting will be held in Harvey Hall on March 11 at 9:30 p.m. Students are welcome to attend or they can keep up with the live action by following @UUSGA on Twitter.
