This Saturday, ResLife will be hosting its annual Ladies’ Night in McAfee Commons at 8 p.m. on Sept. 2. Ladies’ Night is a free event that ResLife puts on in order to offer a space for the women living on campus to take part in community and participate in fun activities, as well as enjoy snacks together. It provides a restful environment and an escape from the stresses of college life for a few hours.
Ladies’ Night is an event devoted to two things: rest and community. Resident senior advisor, Morgan Tungate, said, “Ladies’ Night is a time when the women on campus are able to gather together and relax.”
This year, Ladies’ Night will have stations set up around the commons for nail painting, a craft area, and snacks. There will also be a station that offers henna tattoos created by Union artists. Anna Guthrie, a senior graphic design major, is known for her spectacular henna art on Ladies’ Night.
”It’s so lovely to meet the new freshmen and to discover what they’re interested in,” Guthrie said. “I still remember Ladies’ Night from my freshman year and it was such a sweet bonding time with my best girl friends.”
The community-building aspect is another huge draw for women to participate in Ladies’ Night. ResLife understands that connecting with people and developing community can be hard at times.
“Ladies’ Night is a great way for women on campus to come together and get to know one another. It provides a fun atmosphere for ladies to be themselves and meet people they may never have seen or talked to before, which can cultivate a special bond that surpasses judgment or popularity,” said Jordan Hussey, resident advisor of Lee. “If you are looking to make new friends or simply relax and have fun, I’d encourage you to come to Ladies’ Night.”
