If this is something currently happening to you, has a high probability of happening to you or if you’re just in the mood to read about two of the most perfect rom coms to ever grace humanity— stay tuned.

  1. Sleepless in Seattle

Short synopsis: A widower’s son calls a radio therapist on Christmas Eve and states that his father needs a new wife. The widower, Sam, tells a heart wrenching account of how he’s been living since his wife passed away which causes hundreds of women to write the radio station giving him their addresses and phone numbers. Of course, no one stands out until a woman asks to meet him at the top of the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day. I’ll let you watch the movie to see if he actually goes or not.

Conclusion: This movie is classic Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan chemistry; it has the power to make you laugh and cry at the same time; why else would it be number one on this list?

  1. 10 Things I Hate About You

Short synopsis: This film is a comedic spin of the Shakespearean work, “The Taming of the Shrew.” The new kid in town, Cameron, falls in love with the school beauty queen, Bianca, who isn’t allowed to date until her older sister, Kat, does. Cameron then takes it upon himself to find the perfect boyfriend for Kat. The only problem is that she is infamous for being sarcastic, cold blooded and intimidating. Which brings us to the second best part of this movie besides the plot: Patrick Verona played by Heath dreamy Ledger. Cameron monetarily coerces mysterious Verona into dating Kat so in turn, Cameron can take Bianca on a date. The arrangement works until true characters are shown and secrets come to light. One thing is for sure: you’ve never heard Shakespeare told this way before. Between the serenading and surprise paintball dates, Ledger’s character sets the bar pretty high for all men out there.

Conclusion: So much teen angst and hormonal change that I get a zit every time I watch it.

Whether you watch Meg Ryan fall in love with a sleepless man from Seattle or Julia Stiles write 10 things she hates about the man she actually loves, here’s hoping your Valentine’s Day is filled with loved ones, sappy movies and a copious amount of cheesecake.
