The Beta Omega chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha at Union University will be hosting their annual kickball tournament at the West Jackson Baptist Church softball fields on Saturday, March 10, with their first game at 10 a.m. to support their national philanthropy, the Breast Cancer Awareness and Education Foundation.
The girls at Zeta Tau Alpha have put much preparation into this kickball tournament and are dedicated to creating a fun atmosphere where campus and community can gather together in support of breast cancer awareness, and everyone is invited to join them as they kick off their first game at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
They will have hamburgers, chips and desserts for sale to anybody watching or competing in the tournament, and there will be chances for guests to participate in other games and activities during the tournament as well.
Anyone is allowed to play in the kickball tournament from high schoolers to adults, and sign-ups are available outside Brewer Dining Hall until Friday at 5 p.m. All teams must be made up of eight members that contain at least two male and female players.
A general admission of $2 will be taken at the door, and all proceeds made at the tournament will go towards Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness and Education Foundation.
“When we see others support our philanthropy, it reminds us of why we serve,” said Brooklynn Davidson, a junior nursing major and president of Zeta Tau Alpha at Union University.
The Beta Omega chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha has raised an upwards of $15,000 in the last few years to support their philanthropy through many different fundraisers and events that involved the whole campus and community joining together to raise awareness for breast cancer, and they hope to contribute even more to this wonderful organization through the kickball tournament.
“1 in 8 women get breast cancer, and it is our goal to educate and to broaden people’s viewpoints on this disease,” said Emily Riggs, a freshman marketing major and Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy co-chair at Union University. “I am excited to see our campus and our community as a whole come together for the cause of raising awareness and education for breast cancer.”
