On April 6 at 7:30 a.m., Union University’s Bike Recycling Club is hosting their 2nd “Run, Roll and Dash” race by the Union trails on campus.
The Bike Recycling Club is an organization created by Union students who fix or revamp bikes that are donated and then sell the bikes for a more affordable price or give them away for a good cause.
After every academic school year, Safety and Security gather all abandoned bikes on campus and drop them off at the garage where the club meets. This gives the club plenty of bikes to work on throughout the year and creates a small community for those who are involved.
The bike race gives the Bike Recycling Club a chance to showcase their consistent work throughout the trails by keeping them visible and safe for Union students.
The “Run, Roll and Dash” will consist of two consecutive events. They will jumpstart the event with a lively color run, followed by a two-mile mountain bike race through the winding Union trails.
Bike or no bike, you can still participate in the “Run, Roll and Dash.”
“The color run will happen before the actual bike race. Anyone can do it, but it is also for anyone who does not have a bike but still wants to come out and support us,” said David Bowman, a junior business major.
“I am looking forward to throwing color at people,” said Ben Fuller, a senior art major. “We will have different colors at the different stations. Myself and Garrett Veazey are in charge of the green station, where we will be playing GreenDay music as the runners run by!”
For students, the entry fee will be $10 plus $5 for the additional race. For non-students, it will be $15 plus $10 for the additional race.
This will be an exciting event where people can come together and enjoy a morning outside with their fellow community.
