As Passion Conference 2020 approaches, Passion Band will be on Union University’s campus hosting a free worship night in the Carl Grant Events Center on Monday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. to prepare the hearts of students and young adults in the community for the Dec. 31 conference.
Passion Conference is a gathering of college students and young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, aimed at pointing the next generation to Christ. Passion Conference is hosted by Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia and happens every year in the first days of January.
Passion Conference hosts many evangelical pastors, artists and influential speakers to encourage attendees to make Christ the center of their lives and the motivator behind all that they do. They also use their platform to benefit many causes such as Compassion International (compassion.com), End It Movement (enditmovement.com) and other organizations that speak to current world events and tragedies.
As the new decade approaches, Passion Conference will take place Dec. 31, 2019 to Jan. 2, 2020 to allow attendees to ring in the new decade with fellow believers worshiping Jesus. In preparation for this event, Passion’s worship band is traveling across the country, putting on pop-up worship concerts for free.
Union was selected as one of the locations for one of these concerts. Joe Ball, Union’s director for discipleship and ministry in the office of university ministries, was thrilled when Passion reached out about the concert earlier this year.
“We are always looking for ways to create great events for our students,” said Ball. “We are excited that the worship night will kick off our faith in practice week.”
Ball and the office of university ministries are hoping that this night is beneficial to students and helps them take the next step in their relationships with Christ.
“We are hoping that this will be a night that really encourages students to grow in their walk with Christ,“ said Ball.
Students are excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to all that Monday night will hold for the student body. Maggie Exum, junior elementary education major and Life Group Leader, is eager to have the well-known worship band on campus.
“We are so excited to have Passion coming to our campus!” said Exum. “It is going to be such a unique and exciting time for students to really engage in corporate worship with some of the Church’s most influential worship leaders. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
This experience truly will be one to remember and is expected to be a very powerful night.
“It’s not every day that we have a famous worship band stopping by Union, so I think it will be something really special,” said Exum.
Due to the incredible amount of interest, tickets are sold out at this time.
