Throughout the school year, the office of university ministries at Union University hosts a series of expo events to relay information to students regarding ministries both on and off campus.
The first expo of the series is the local church expo. It will be located in the student union building hallway from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.
This expo is intended to give university students the opportunity to connect with churches and fellow believers in the Jackson community and surrounding areas.
“The local church expo is an easy and convenient opportunity to get connected with the local churches in Jackson,” said Callie Teague, junior public relations major and student worker in the office of university ministries. “Getting involved in a local church family is so important for every believer in order to grow in their faith and serve the Lord and those around them.”
Union University believes that getting involved in a local church is an integral part of each student’s college career. The spiritual influence that is developed prior to and during college sets a foundation for spiritual life beyond an individual’s academic years.
Although Union University has a Christ-centered community and focus within itself, the university believes that it is also important to connect with other believers in the Jackson community.
“Going to church every week and getting involved helped get me connected into a Christian community outside of Union,” said junior public relations major Delaney Sain. “Getting involved in a small group keeps me accountable in my faith, and going to church every Sunday and Wednesday gets me recharged for the rest of the week. Worshipping with fellow believers is something I look forward to every week!”
