In the midst of the chaos from classes, exams and just being an adult, every now and then everyone wishes there was a way to go back to a much simpler time when the most important things were recess and the newest toys from Toys-R-Us.
Just this week, Disney made that a reality.
If you have any social media account at all, you probably saw that Disney+ launched on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
For a while before this streaming service launched, I was irritated with Disney for taking all of their movies and shows off Netflix and Hulu, meaning their shows would only be available on this mysterious future service.
Once the release date and the very extensive list of movies and shows dropped, I was astonished to see that nearly every Disney classic made the list. Shows, like “Hannah Montana” and “That’s So Raven,” and movies, like “High School Musical” and “101 Dalmatians,” gave a flash of nostalgia as I scrolled through the list.
Being on a college student budget, I wasn’t planning on purchasing another streaming service. Thanks to my parents paying for unlimited data through our phone service provider, we get the first year of Disney+ free, so naturally I had to check it out.
With just a few clicks on my laptop, my whole childhood flashed on my screen in vibrant color. Nostalgia filled my soul as I began to check out all that this new service had to offer. My roommates and I scrolled through the extensive list of titles, our excitement amplifying with each swipe on the mousepad.
Moments like these with my roommates, reliving some of our favorite childhood memories that go along with our Disney favorites, are the moments that make all the stresses of college seem a little less difficult.
Disney+ takes its viewers back to a time when there was less stress and more laughter and joy.
These shows, movies and characters are the ones my roommates and I grew up laughing and singing along to through all of our formative years. Disney+ allows us to look back on those days and reminisce about when the stresses of life didn’t seem so overwhelming.
If you’re feeling sentimental and want to find some of your childhood favorites, Disney+ is definitely for you. You just may have to remind yourself you still have your adult responsibilities to handle when you get sucked back into the Wonderful World of Disney.
