The Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity (ΛΧΑ) hosted a prayer walk on Saturday, Feb. 15, and anyone was welcome to join.
Sam Eudy, freshman engineering major, and John Putman, freshman Christian studies major, both thought having this event would be a great idea to get the campus focused spiritually for the remainder of the semester.
“We had both participated in prayer walks before, and we thought it would fit what we were seeking,” said Eudy. “Although it was a small crowd, we were motivated by Matthew 18:20, which says, ‘For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst’ (NASB).”
The groups walked to seven different locations all across Union University’s campus.
They all met at the Lambda Chi house and then walked to the Miller Tower to begin the prayer walk. At each of the seven stops, they got into groups and prayed over a specific part of campus. At the Miller Tower, they prayed for Union academics, all of the the professors and their departments.
The next location was by the baseball and soccer fields. There, they prayed for the athletics department, including coaches, athletes and trainers. At the cross outside of chapel, they prayed for the chapel speakers and worship. After that, they walked to the fountain and lifted up the clubs and organizations on campus and in their pursuit to continue to be Christ-centered.
The tornado memorial in the middle of the quad dorms was the next stop. There, they prayed for graduating seniors, their job searches and real life after college. In the middle of the Heritage dorms, they prayed for the class of 2024, transfers and the Scholars of Excellence. The conclusion of their walk was at the Lambda Chi house where they prayed for unity among fraternities and sororities and respect for independents.
“I know that if we prayed with faithful hearts, God would come through for Union in His way,” said Putman. “Hopefully next year, Lord willing, we can spread the word out in advance to allow more people to join in the blessing of praying for this campus.”
