The Student Activities Council (SAC) hosted their annual bingo night this past Monday, Feb. 22 in the George M. Savage Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m.
The line was out the door with students waiting to get in to play the beloved game of bingo. The whole SAC team was decked out in their red and white striped shirts and passed out drinks, snacks and candy as people entered.
The whole chapel turned into a party. Fun music played and laughter was in the air as people sat next to their friends waiting for the night to get started.
As Lydia Cyrus, a junior social work major, spun the bingo wheel, everyone went quiet to make sure they heard the numbers called. As soon as someone got a straight bingo, they would jump up and yell B.I.N.G.O!
“The thrill and excitement of hearing the numbers being called and anticipating who will win is so much fun,” said Muna Grace Al-Hagal, a senior digital media communications major.
Cyrus loved seeing how excited people were about getting their prizes and just being there.
“It’s so fun when people yell bingo and run up to the stage,” said Cyrus.
Some of the prizes included: a Roku Television, a succulent subscription, an Apple Watch, an Apple iPad, Apple Pencil and Airpods. They also had rounds only for giftcards such as Walmart, Kroger, Amazon, Texas Roadhouse and Starbucks.
There was a location change this year from the Brewer Dining Hall to the George M. Savage Memorial Chapel, but it did not change the bingo spirit.
Al-Hagal has looked forward to coming to SAC bingo every year.
“I love that students from all across campus come together to enjoy this night,” said Al-Hagal.
