Kappa Delta To Host Trivia Night Benefiting Prevent Child Abuse America

On Monday, March 15, Kappa Delta will host a trivia night in the Bowld gym with two time slots for Union students to attend from either 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

All proceeds from this event will be given to Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA), one of Kappa Delta’s philanthropy projects. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the table outside Brewer Dining Hall or from a member of Kappa Delta.

All $5 will be used to benefit children. Most of the money will go toward preventing child abuse locally, as 80% of the proceeds are sent straight to the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse here in Jackson.

“It’s going directly into our local community,” said Mary Vranyes, junior marketing major and vice president of community service for Kappa Delta. “People should come because it’s a great cause and it really helps out.”

They chose to offer two times in order to make space for social distancing and allow busy students to have a second option to choose from as they decide to make time for this event.

The trivia night will be set up in the Bowld gym with tables for people to sit at with their teams. Each table will compete for prizes in five different categories. Snacks and drinks will be provided for those who attend.

Kappa Delta will decorate with shamrocks and pinwheels, which they use as symbols in relation to their philanthropy with PCAA.

“It brings me great joy to give back to those who are going through things I can’t even imagine,” said Lauren Richards, freshman social work major. “God calls us to serve, not to be served. Kappa Delta allows me to fulfill what the Lord has called me to do. I would encourage everyone to come out and support our fight against child abuse!”
