Union University’s Residence Life hosted its Progressive Snacking event on Thursday, April 10, at 8 p.m. The event invited students to walk through campus residence halls, enjoy themed snacks and meet ResLife staff and other students in a casual setting.
The event allowed students to visit a series of residence buildings, each offering a unique snack prepared by the building’s resident advisor or resident director. While students weren’t required to follow a set route, many visited multiple stops to take full advantage of the evening.
Each residence building offered a different snack for students to enjoy. Ayers featured rainbow sherbet punch and mini drumstick cones. Hurt served BBQ weenies. Watters offered a rotel, sausage and cheese dip with chips. Bowld presented puff pastries and rice crispy treats, while McAfee rounded things out with a popcorn bar and spicy firecrackers.
For ResLife staff, the event was a way to promote connection and help students feel welcomed in different parts of campus. Noah Paisley, a graduate business student, reflected on what he appreciated most about this year in ResLife.
“My favorite part of this role is building connections with students and seeing them grow,” Paisley said. “Events like this make those relationships possible.”
The informal, come-and-go format allowed students to engage on their own terms, visiting whichever halls they chose and staying for as long or as little as they liked. For many, it was a chance to meet new people and explore new buildings.
Ben Magner, a junior accounting major, shared why Progressive Snacking is one of his favorite ResLife events.
“I think this event is such a great way to slow down and just talk to people you might not see every day,” Magner said. “This is my third time going, and I look forward to it every semester. It’s fun, and it actually helps you feel more connected to campus.”
Progressive Snacking remains a staple in Residence Life events, offering students a fun and approachable way to get involved.
